Judge Michael Luttig, one of my favorite choices for both the Supreme Court nominations given to both Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, has resigned from the Fourth Circuit Court to take a position as Senior Vice President and general council for Boeing. Ah well, hopefully Bush will nominate a good judge right off the bat (like he did for Roberts) and not eventually (Alito).

It’s a shame such a competent and qualified jurist never got a spot on the Supreme Court, given that, oh, it’s high time for a certain woman to keel over dead (her initials are RBG). He knew the writing on the wall: there had already been two white men (well, one white and one Italian) added to the Supreme Court, and no more would be allowed (I’m surprised Bush even did that, given his love of diversity in extremely powerful positions).

Enjoy your new paycheck, Judge Luttig! Kudos on landing the great gig, you’ve earned it. Now if only we could get the NInth Circuit Court judge to retire...
